Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a comprehensive management plan in which free-roaming community cats are humanely trapped, evaluated and sterilized by a licensed veterinarian, vaccinated against rabies and then returned to their original habitat. Colony caretakers provide food, water and shelter for these free-roaming community cats while TNR provides a non-lethal, humane way to effectively manage these community cat populations.

Benefits of TNR

TNR is a proven, long-term method of reducing the number of free-roaming cats in a community.  TNR significantly reduces shelter admissions and operating costs while effectively promoting community and public health which can be negatively affected by non-vaccinated feline populations.

TNR helps to improve the lives of free-roaming cats.  It diminishes the colony size over time and quickly stabilizes cat colonies instantly ending the reproduction cycle… No new kittens by the TNR cats!  TNR relieves the cats of the constant stress of mating, pregnancy and birth, helps eliminate mating behaviors like roaming, yowling, spraying, and fighting, and vastly improves the cat’s physical health which increases their life expectancy.

Investing in TNR is an investment in the health and lives of the cats.  It demonstrates a socially responsible, compassionate, and efficient approach to dealing with exploding free-roaming cat populations.
